# What's free and what costs money?

> Browsing, searching, and previewing sounds are free, and so are your first few canvas sounds. Editing, AI, exports, and premium libraries need Sound Kit Pro — and a sound that actually plays also needs a paid Figma plan.

> **Paid feature:** Sound Kit Pro is the only paid plan, bought once as a license key. There is no Team plan and no account to sign into.

> **Paid feature:** Separately, a sound that actually plays needs a paid Figma plan (Professional, Organization, Education, or Enterprise). That is a Figma rule about uploading video, not a Sound Kit charge.

> **Note:** AI sound generation runs on your own API key from ElevenLabs or OpenAI. You pay those providers directly for what you generate — Sound Kit does not add a fee.

## Steps

1. Free: browse, search, and preview the built-in sound library.
2. Free: compare sounds and shortlist them on the mood board.
3. Free: attach your first few sounds to the canvas. After that, unlimited canvas sounds are Pro.
4. Pro: the full editor — trimming, effects, loudness, and the mix.
5. Pro: AI sound generation, sonification, and your own uploads.
6. Pro: developer export, design-token export, premium libraries, and connecting your own storage.
