# How do I sync my sounds to Figma Variables?

> Open Tokens → Export and use the Figma Variables panel. It previews how many variables and modes it will create, then writes them into your file.

> **Note:** Switching modes inside your file works for everyone. Publishing those variables to a shared library is a separate, manual step on a paid Figma plan.

> **Tip:** Your sound themes become variable modes, so swapping the theme in Figma swaps which sound each token points at.

## Steps

1. Create the sound tokens you want to expose.
2. Open the Tokens tab and go to Export.
3. Find the Figma Variables panel.
4. Check the preview — how many variables and how many modes will be created.
5. Run the sync and read the result it reports back.
6. Open Figma’s variables panel to see them in your file.
