# How do I make hover, pressed, and disabled versions of a sound?

> Use State Variations in the editor. It generates related takes from your sound, and you can save the whole set as one token with the variants inside it.

> **Tip:** Related states should be recognisably the same sound. Generating them from one source keeps that family resemblance automatically.

> **Note:** Saving as a token set keeps the variants inside a single token, so developers get one name plus its states rather than four unrelated files.

## Steps

1. Open a sound in the Create tab’s Edit view.
2. Scroll to State Variations in the Interaction panel.
3. Click Generate to produce related takes from your sound.
4. Play each variant and pick the ones that work.
5. Use Component State above it to declare which state the sound in the editor represents.
6. Click Save as token set to store the default plus its variants as one token.
