# How do I turn a shape or colour into a sound?

> Select something on the Figma canvas, then use Sonify Selection in the Canvas tab. Sound Kit reads its colours, gradient, and shape and synthesizes a sound from them.

> **Paid feature:** Sonification is a Pro feature.

> **Tip:** Gradients give the most interesting results — the colour ramp is read as movement over the length of the sound.

## Steps

1. Select a shape, frame, or gradient-filled layer on the Figma canvas.
2. Open the Canvas tab and click Sonify Selection in the toolbar.
3. Check what was read from your selection at the top of the window.
4. Choose a waveform and a preset, then set the duration.
5. Shape the envelope with attack, decay, sustain, and release, and add a filter if you want it darker or brighter.
6. Play the preview until it sounds right.
7. Save to library to keep it, then use it like any other sound.
