# How do I hear the sound on the layer I select?

> Turn on Canvas Preview in Settings → Editor. A small player then appears whenever you select a layer that has a sound attached.

> **Note:** It never plays on its own. Selecting a layer only offers the player — you press play. That is deliberate, so audio is never a surprise.

> **Tip:** You can dismiss the player for the current selection without turning the feature off. It comes back on the next layer.

## Steps

1. Open Settings from the footer and pick Editor.
2. Find the Canvas Preview group and turn it on. It saves immediately.
3. Go back and select a layer on the Figma canvas that has a sound.
4. The mini player appears — press play to hear it.
5. Dismiss it if it is in your way, or turn the setting off to stop it appearing.
