# How do I add sound to a Figma Motion animation?

> Select the animated layer, open the Motion tab, preview a suggested sound against the animation, then open it in the editor to save it.

## Before you start

- A layer with a Figma Motion timeline or a prototype interaction.

> **Tip:** Preview before you commit. The preview plays the sound against the animation’s real length, so a sound that is too long is obvious immediately.

## Steps

1. Select the animated layer on the Figma canvas.
2. Open the Motion tab.
3. Check the inspector — it confirms the animation Sound Kit found and how long it runs.
4. Under "Preview against this animation", play a candidate and hear it in time.
5. Pick a sound from "Sounds for this animation".
6. Click Open in editor to save. The editor offers to adopt the animation’s duration, easing, and keyframes.
7. Save the sound, then attach it to the layer from Browse or Canvas.
