# How do I change the way sounds are listed?

> The Browse toolbar switches between list and grid, and the Sort & Filter menu narrows the list by category, format, brightness, and sort order.

> **Tip:** Brightness is measured from the audio itself. Bright sounds sit high and crisp, dark ones sit low and soft — useful when you want a set that feels consistent.

> **Note:** A sound that has not been measured yet is never hidden by the brightness filter. It stays in the list and sorts last, and the notice tells you how many are still pending.

## Steps

1. Open the Browse tab.
2. Use the view button in the toolbar to switch between the list and the grid.
3. Open Sort & Filter from the toolbar.
4. Narrow the list by Category or Format, or pick a Brightness chip: Bright, Warm, Neutral, or Dark.
5. Choose a Sort order — by name, by duration, or by brightness from bright to dark and back.
6. Use the intent chips under the toolbar (Success, Error, Toggle on, and so on) to jump straight to sounds that fit a purpose.
