# How do I attach a sound to a button or component?

> Select the layer in Figma first, then use Add to Canvas in the Browse tab to attach a sound to it.

> **Note:** The Canvas tab only lists video nodes (layers with a video fill), so a plain button will never show up there. Attach from the Browse tab instead.

> **Tip:** Attaching to a layer just records the sound on it. Its design and appearance do not change, and no play button is added — it is a silent tag. To get a node that actually plays, choose Create a new video node instead.

> **Paid feature:** Create a new video node turns the audio into a video, which needs a paid Figma plan (Professional, Organization, Education, or Enterprise). Attaching to a layer is free, but the layer stays silent.

## Steps

1. In the Figma canvas, select the button, component, or layer you want.
2. In Sound Kit, open the Browse tab and pick a sound.
3. Click Add to Canvas on that sound to open the Add to canvas dialog.
4. Choose Attach to {layer name} for a silent tag, or Create a new video node for a node that plays.
