# How do I add squash & stretch (make motion feel alive)?

> Velocity-driven squash & stretch elongates the object where it moves fast and squashes it where it slows.

The **Squash & stretch** section adds classic animation life to path motion. It reads the object’s **velocity** (from your easing or speed profile) and stretches it along the direction of travel where it moves fast, squashing it thinner as it slows — and it faces the object along the path so the stretch follows the curve.

_A ball with squash & stretch: it stretches into the dive and squashes at the slow ends._

1. Turn on **Squash & stretch**.
2. **Intensity** sets how far it deforms (0 = none, 1 = strong).
3. **Banking** leans the object into turns as it travels — great for planes, fish, and swimmers (0 = off).

> **Note:** The effect is driven by speed, so it’s strongest with an eased curve or a **Speed profile**. At constant linear speed there’s little velocity change to react to. It’s off in glyph mode (each letter is placed on its own).
