# How do I add velocity-linked motion blur?

> Motion blur keys a layer-blur radius to the object’s speed — it smears where fast and stays crisp where slow.

The **Motion blur** section adds a layer blur to the object and **keys its radius to how fast the object is moving** along the path. The fastest point reaches your **Peak blur** radius; the slow parts stay crisp. A constant-speed pan smears the whole way, while an eased move (or a **Speed profile**) blurs on its fast stretch and clears at the ends — real motion blur, not a static filter.

_The dot is crisp at the slow ends and smears through the fast middle._

1. Turn on **Motion blur**.
2. **Peak blur** sets the radius (px) reached at the object’s fastest point.
3. Give it some velocity variation — an eased curve or a **Speed profile** — so the blur has fast and slow stretches to react to.

> **Note:** The blur is baked as a keyed layer-blur effect radius, so it stays native and editable. It’s guarded so a layer that can’t take a blur effect still keeps its motion.
