# Why is “Apply motion path” greyed out?

> You need both a path and at least one layer to animate.

Apply stays disabled until the plugin has both a **path** and at least one **object** to move:

1. For **Vector** or **Outline**: select a vector/shape for the path **and** one or more layers to animate (or pin them with Set as path / Set as object).
2. For **Procedural**: you only need a layer to animate — the shape is generated for you.
