# How do I add anticipation & overshoot (wind-up and follow-through)?

> The object recoils backward before it launches and coasts past the end before settling — along the path’s own tangent.

The **Anticipation & overshoot** section adds a **wind-up before departure and a follow-through after arrival**. The object recoils **backward along its departure tangent** before launching, then coasts **past the arrival point** before settling. A “back” easing can only warp **time**; this warps **position**, so the excursions extend right off the ends of the path by a distance you set.

_It dips back to wind up, launches, sails past the mark, then settles._

1. Turn on **Anticipation & overshoot**.
2. **Recoil** sets how far it pulls back before launching (a fraction of the path’s span).
3. **Overshoot** sets how far it coasts past the end before settling.

> **Note:** The excursions borrow a little time at each end without touching the pace of the main travel, and the timeline grows to fit the tail. It works with any direction, loop or hold.
