# How do I set the font on a chart?

> Use Typography in the Appearance group. Pick a font and the preview loads it, so what you see is what Figma will draw when you insert.

> **Note:** Fonts are loaded into Figma before the chart is inserted, so the text arrives as real editable text in the right typeface. If a font is unavailable, Figma substitutes it — see My chart’s fonts look wrong in Figma.

> **Tip:** To stay tied to your design system rather than picking a font by name, bind the chart to a Figma text style instead.

## Steps

1. Open the Configuration tab and find Typography in the Appearance group.
2. Search for a font by name and pick it. The preview re-renders with the real typeface rather than a substitute.
3. Set sizes and weights for the chart’s text. Individual pieces — title, axis labels, legend — can be overridden in their own groups if you need them to differ.
4. Apply a typography preset instead if you want a whole scale at once. There are presets matching Material, Apple HIG, IBM Carbon, Atlassian, Tailwind, Figma’s own UI, and a monospaced set.
