# How do I save my own preset?

> Style a chart the way you want it, then save it as a chart style or as a colour palette. Both then appear in the pickers alongside the built-in ones.

## Before you start

- A chart styled the way you want to reuse it.

> **Tip:** Prefer a palette when the colours are the point, and a chart style when the layout is. A palette applies cleanly to any chart type; a style tuned for a bar chart may not suit a scatter.

> **Note:** Saved presets live with the Figma file, so anyone who opens it can use them. To carry a look between files, export the chart and import it on the other side.

> **Pro feature:** Saving your own presets needs a paid plan.

## Steps

1. To keep the whole look, save it as a chart style and give it a name. It captures your options and typography, and your colours if you want it to.
2. To keep just the colours, save a colour palette instead. That is the better choice when the same colours should apply across several different chart types.
3. Manage what you have saved in the presets manager, which has separate Presets and Palettes tabs.
