# What happens to my work if I close the plugin?

> While you are in the editor the plugin keeps saving the chart you are building. If the window closes before you have inserted anything, it offers to bring that chart back the next time you open it.

> **Careful:** Start fresh discards the saved chart permanently. If you are not certain, close the dialog instead — that keeps it for next time.

> **Note:** Saved sessions are kept per Figma file, so work you left half-finished in another file is never offered here by mistake.

> **Note:** Leaving the editor with Back to Charts counts as finishing deliberately and clears the saved copy. Only an unexpected close leaves one behind — which is exactly the case this is for.

> **Tip:** Once a chart is on the canvas it is safe regardless: its settings travel on the frame itself, so selecting it reopens it whenever you like.

## Steps

1. There is nothing to switch on. A moment after each change you make, the editor quietly saves a copy of the chart you are working on.
2. If the plugin closes before you inserted the chart, simply open FigmaCharts again in the same file.
3. On the home screen you are asked Restore your last session?, with the chart's name, its type and library, and how long ago you last edited it.
4. Press Restore to carry on exactly where you stopped — same chart, same data, same tab you had open.
5. Press Start fresh if you would rather begin again. The saved copy is thrown away and you will not be asked about it again.
6. Press Esc, or close the dialog, to decide later. The copy is kept and you will be offered it the next time you open the plugin.
