# Why does my inserted chart differ from the preview?

> It should not — the plugin copies exactly what the preview has drawn. What differs is everything that only exists while a chart is live: tooltips, hover effects, and the zoom you were viewing it at.

> **Note:** Charts that could be dragged or scroll-zoomed on their own — ECharts treemaps and network graphs, Highcharts scatter plots, ApexCharts time series — have that behaviour switched off inside the preview, deliberately. It stopped a stray drag from baking a half-panned chart into your file.

> **Tip:** PNG inserts are drawn at twice the pixel density on a transparent background, so a PNG chart looks sharper than its own frame size suggests but shows nothing behind it unless you set a background colour.

> **Careful:** If the preview shows Preview failed with a banner, you are looking at the last chart that rendered cleanly, and that is what gets inserted. Fix the reported problem before you insert.

## Steps

1. Check the size first. The chart is drawn at the Width and Height set under Appearance in the Configuration tab — 818 by 400 unless you change them — no matter how large or small the preview happens to be showing it.
2. Zooming and panning the preview has no effect on the insert. Press Fit if the mismatch is confusing you — the chart on the canvas will be the same either way.
3. Expect anything interactive to be gone. Tooltips, hover highlights and click behaviour belong to the live chart; a Figma layer is a drawing. Anything actually drawn — a legend, a data-zoom slider, axis labels — does come through.
4. Check the fonts if the text looks off. The plugin loads the chart's fonts into Figma before inserting, but a font Figma cannot supply gets substituted, which changes the width of labels.
5. Compare like with like on colours: the Auto, Light and Dark control beside the tabs changes the rendered chart, so the theme showing in the preview is the theme you insert.
