# How do I sync charts with GitHub?

> Add a personal access token in Settings, then save charts straight to a repository and browse them back out — so a team shares one set of charts instead of passing files around.

## Before you start

- A GitHub personal access token with permission to read and write the repository you want to use.

> **Note:** If someone else has changed the same chart since you loaded it, the plugin tells you before writing rather than overwriting their version.

> **Careful:** Give the token the narrowest scope that works — ideally access to just the one repository you use for charts. It is stored on your machine and held in memory only, but a broadly-scoped token is worth avoiding on principle.

## Steps

1. Open Settings and go to GitHub. Paste your personal access token and choose the repository and folder to use.
2. From the editor, save a chart to GitHub instead of downloading it. It is written to your chosen folder as a file.
3. To open a chart someone else saved, browse the repository from the plugin and pick it.
