# What's free and what needs a paid plan?

> Google and HighCharts give you one free chart in every category — the first tile in the grid. The other three libraries, the data connectors, AI, animation and export all need the paid plan, which is $38 a year.

> **Note:** The free chart is decided by position, not by a fixed list — it is whichever chart sits first in the grid for the library and category you have chosen. So nothing is broken when the same chart type is free in one place and locked in another.

> **Pro feature:** FigmaCharts PRO is $38 a year. New users get a time-limited early-bird discount: 50% off during the first 48 hours, then 20% for the day after that.

> **Tip:** The ten-chart allowance counts brand-new inserts only. Reopening a chart you already placed and updating it is unlimited.

## Steps

1. On the Google and HighCharts tabs, the first tile in the grid is free and the rest carry a PRO badge and a lock. Choose a different category chip and the first tile under that filter becomes the free one — so there is a usable chart in every category.
2. The D3 - Nivo, ApexCharts and ECharts tabs are paid in full. Every tile on those three is locked until you upgrade.
3. Free covers getting your own numbers in by hand: the Manual Edit table and Sample Data in the Data tab. Import — CSV, Excel, JSON — and the Connect Source wizards for Google Sheets, Airtable, Supabase and REST APIs are paid.
4. Free also covers styling and placing: the whole Configuration tab, the colour palettes, the fonts, and both + SVG and + PNG — up to ten inserted charts.
5. The editor's Animation, Export and AI tabs are paid, as are the Inspector and saving your own presets.
6. To unlock the lot, press Upgrade in the footer. If you already bought a key, open Settings, then License & Subscription, and enter it there.
