# How do I create my first chart?

> Pick a chart from the gallery, put your numbers in the Data tab, then press + SVG to place it on the canvas. Nothing needs setting up first.

## Before you start

- A Figma or FigJam file you can edit.

> **Tip:** You do not have to start from scratch later. Select a chart you have already inserted and the plugin reopens it with your data and settings intact, ready to update in place.

> **Note:** Some chart types show a PRO badge. Google and HighCharts include free charts in every category — the first tile in each — and the rest of the gallery comes with a paid plan.

## Steps

1. Open FigmaCharts from the Plugins menu, or press ⌘/ (Ctrl / on Windows) and type its name. It opens in a panel beside your canvas and stays open while you work.
2. The home screen shows every chart the plugin can make. Use the library tabs along the top to switch between Google, HighCharts, D3 - Nivo, ApexCharts and ECharts, and the category chips below them to narrow to bar, line, pie and so on.
3. Every tile is a live chart, not a picture — what you see is what the plugin will draw. Click one to open it in the editor.
4. The editor puts the preview on the left and the controls on the right. Open the Data tab and replace the sample numbers with your own — type into the table, or paste straight from a spreadsheet.
5. Switch to the Configuration tab to change the title, colours, legend and axes. The preview updates as you go.
6. When it looks right, press + SVG in the header. The chart lands in the middle of your viewport as a real Figma frame with vector and text layers you can select, restyle and put in components.
