# How do I connect a Google Sheet?

> Share the sheet so anyone with the link can view it, then paste its URL into the Google Sheets wizard. No API key and no Google sign-in are involved.

## Before you start

- A Google Sheet shared as "Anyone with the link can view".
- A paid plan — connected data sources are a PRO feature.

> **Note:** A private sheet will not work. If validation fails with a message about the sheet being private, go back to Google and check the link sharing — the plugin has no Google account of its own to authorise.

> **Tip:** Published sheets work too. If you used File → Share → Publish to web, paste that published link and the plugin recognises it and reads the CSV directly.

> **Note:** Columns that hold only text are left out of the series automatically, so a sheet with notes or comments columns still charts cleanly.

> **Tip:** Starting from scratch? Press Data on the home screen instead, then Add Source. When the wizard finishes it suggests chart types that suit the data it just read.

## Steps

1. In Google Sheets, press Share and set access to Anyone with the link as Viewer. Copy the URL from your browser's address bar.
2. In the plugin, open the chart you want to feed, go to the Data tab and press Connect Source. Choose Create New, then Google Sheets.
3. Paste the URL and press Validate URL. The plugin checks it can actually read the sheet and reports Public (no API key needed) when it can.
4. Press Continue and pick the tab you want on Select a Sheet.
5. On Map Your Columns, mark one column as your labels and the columns that hold numbers as data. The wizard suggests a sensible split and shows each column's type and range.
6. The Create Calculated Fields step is optional — press Skip unless you want an extra series derived from the ones you have.
7. Finish. The data lands in your chart and the source is saved into the Figma file, so a Refresh button now sits at the top of the Data tab.
