# Which chart library should I pick?

> If your engineers already use one of the five, pick that one — you are choosing the library your product will actually ship, not just a look. Otherwise pick on range: ECharts has by far the most charts, HighCharts and Nivo the widest spread of types, and Google is the plainest. All five insert the same kind of Figma layers.

> **Note:** Recharts and Plotly appear as dimmed tabs. They are not built yet — selecting one shows a Coming Soon panel rather than charts.

> **Tip:** The Inspector — click a part of the chart to filter the options down to just that part — only works on HighCharts and ApexCharts. If that is how you like to work, start there.

> **Tip:** The colour palette you choose in the home toolbar follows you across every tab, so you can flick between libraries and compare like for like.

## Steps

1. The library tabs run along the top of the home screen. Five are built: Google, HighCharts, D3 - Nivo, ApexCharts and ECharts — the real JavaScript libraries, running inside the plugin. Between them the gallery holds 588 charts across 45 categories.
2. Pick ECharts for range. It is the largest set by a distance — 273 charts in 21 categories — and the only one with Graph, Theme River, Pictorial Bar, Effect Scatter and Custom.
3. Pick HighCharts for business reporting. 113 charts across 26 categories, and the only place you will find Waterfall, Pareto, Org Chart, Venn and Word Cloud.
4. Pick D3 - Nivo for the D3 family of shapes. 72 charts across 26 categories, and the only library offering Waffle, Bump, Swarm Plot, Voronoi, Marimekko, Icicle and Circle Packing.
5. Pick Google for something plain and familiar. 82 charts across 15 categories, including the only Combo and Word Tree charts in the plugin.
6. Pick ApexCharts for the everyday set. 48 charts across 13 categories — no exotica, but Donut gets its own category rather than hiding inside Pie.
7. If your engineers already use one of these, pick that one — it is the strongest reason to choose a library, stronger than range or looks. The Export tab writes the chart back out as React, Vue, Svelte, Angular or vanilla code for whichever library you built it in, listing that library's own npm package to install. Your developer renders the same chart rather than rebuilding it from a screenshot.
