# How do I set my chart's width and height?

> Use the Dimensions fields in the Appearance group. These set the size the chart is inserted at — they are not the same as zooming the preview.

> **Note:** Changing the size is a re-layout, not a scale. Axis labels, legends and tick marks stay at their proper size and the chart area adapts around them — which is why a chart made narrow may drop tick labels rather than shrink them.

> **Tip:** Zooming the preview does not change these numbers. If the inserted chart is not the size you expected, check Dimensions rather than the preview.

## Steps

1. Open the Configuration tab and find Dimensions at the top of the Appearance group.
2. Type a width and height in pixels. This is the size the chart lands at on the canvas.
3. Use the link between the two fields to lock the proportions, so changing one scales the other.
