# What do the category filters mean?

> Each chip is a family of related charts, not a single chart. There are 45 families in all, and any given library shows only the ones it actually ships.

> **Note:** A missing chip means that library has nothing in that family, not that the plugin cannot do it. Waterfall only appears under HighCharts; Waffle only under D3 - Nivo.

> **Tip:** If a chart is not where you expect, it has probably been folded into a broader family. Donut variants of a pie, for instance, may sit under Pie in one library and under Donut in another.

## Steps

1. The chips sit below the library tabs and run in a fixed order — Bar, Line, Area, Pie, Donut, Scatter and on down to the rarer shapes. Bar is selected when you open the plugin.
2. Every chart in a library is sorted into exactly one family, so variants live with their parent rather than getting a chip of their own. Bar holds columns, lollipop, dumbbell, variwide and error bar. Pie holds polar area and variable pie. Scatter holds bubble and packed bubble.
3. Some families are broader than their name suggests. Timeline covers Gantt and range bars, Candlestick covers OHLC, Heikin-Ashi and Renko, Network covers dependency wheels and arc diagrams, and Funnel covers pyramids.
4. When the chips will not all fit across the panel the remainder collapse into a More menu on the right. Widening or maximising the plugin window pushes more of them back onto the row.
