# How do I change my chart's colours?

> Pick a Colour palette in the Appearance group to recolour the whole chart at once, or open the Colors group to set individual series colours by hand.

> **Tip:** If your brand colours already live in your Figma file as variables or styles, import them instead of retyping hex values — see Using your Figma variables and styles as chart colours.

> **Note:** Picking a chart style preset can also change colours, because some styles carry their own palette. If a colour you set gets overridden, Why did my colours change when I picked a style? explains the rule.

## Steps

1. Open the Configuration tab. The Colour palette picker is in the Appearance group at the top.
2. Choose a palette. Every series recolours at once, in palette order.
3. To set one series on its own, open the Colors group and edit that series directly. A colour you set by hand sticks until you pick a different palette.
4. For the background, use Background in the Appearance group. Leave it transparent if you are placing the chart on a coloured surface in Figma.
