# What data does the plugin store, and where?

> Three places: your own machine, the Figma file itself, and — only when a feature needs it — the internet. Nothing is gathered for analytics, and the plugin never phones home with your charts.

> **Careful:** A data source's credentials — a Google API key, an Airtable token — are saved on the document so charts keep refreshing for collaborators. Anyone with access to the file can read them, so never connect a privileged key in a file you share widely.

> **Note:** There is no analytics, no tracking and no usage reporting. The only time an email address leaves the plugin is if you type one into the welcome screen to hear about updates — and that step is skippable.

> **Tip:** To clear the licence from a machine, press Deactivate License in Settings → License & Subscription. That removes the stored key as well as freeing the activation.

> **Note:** AI is entirely optional and runs on your own key, so your data goes to the provider you already have an account with — never through us.

## Steps

1. Your licence key, your AI API keys and your GitHub token are held in Figma's per-user storage on your own machine. They are never written into the file, so nobody you share it with can read them.
2. Unfinished editor sessions live in that same per-user storage, one per Figma file — which is why a half-built chart you abandoned in another file is never offered to you here.
3. Every chart you insert carries its own data and settings on the frame. That is what lets you select it months later and reopen it in the editor, and it means the chart travels with the file.
4. Your saved colour palettes, typography and chart style presets are stored on the document, so everyone working in that file gets them. They do not follow you into a different file.
5. Connected data sources are stored on the document too, together with the key each one needs to fetch — that is what keeps a chart refreshing for your teammates rather than only for you.
6. Nothing leaves Figma unless you ask for it. Browsing the gallery, typing data, styling a chart and inserting it all work with no connection at all.
7. When a feature does reach out, it goes to exactly one place: AI requests go straight to the provider you chose using your own key, Google Sheets and licence checks pass through systergon.com, GitHub sync goes to GitHub, and fonts come from Google Fonts.
